The Municipality of Figueira da Foz marked Equality Week with a series of school activities aimed at promoting inclusion and diversity among students from over 10 nationalities.

As part of the "Coimbra Region, Your Home" project, activities were promoted in the municipality's schools, bringing together around 20 classes from preschool and the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. The activities involved students from diverse backgrounds, including Ukraine, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Brazil, India, Russia, Cape Verde, Angola, Argentina, Venezuela, China, and Bangladesh.
The initiatives were structured around two main fronts: "Figueira da Foz, Your Home" for the 1st Cycle, focused on engaging with the educational community and raising awareness about inclusion and non-discrimination; and the "Story Time" for Preschool, in partnership with the Municipal Public Library Pedro Fernandes Tomás, which combined reading with activities on diversity and empathy.
Active participation came from JI de São Julião, Tavarede, and EB das Abadias (School Group of the Urban Area of Figueira da Foz), as well as JI and EB da Marinha das Ondas (School Group of Paião).
The Equality Week initiatives will extend until mid-November, reaching new educational establishments and school levels. The "Figueira da Foz, Your Home" activity will be held at EB Infante D. Pedro, while "Story Time" will reach children at JI Conde Ferreira and JI Ninho.
Additionally, the INTEGRATE challenge will be launched for students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles of EB Dr. João de Barros and EB Dr. Pedrosa Veríssimo, inviting each participating class to create a work of art representing the values of inclusion, culminating in a community exhibition.
With this extension of activities, the Municipality of Figueira da Foz and its educational partners reinforce their continuous commitment to fostering a plural, welcoming, and inclusive community.
