The Municipality of Caminha has launched the "The Paper of My Life" initiative as part of its "Senior Month" program, aiming to combat social isolation among the elderly population through creative expression and memory sharing.

As part of the "Senior Month" program, the "The Paper of My Life" initiative seeks to value the life experiences of seniors, promoting the sharing of memories and experiences. Developed by the Caminha + Ativa Program in partnership with the Local Volunteer Bank, the activity challenges participants to express significant moments from their lives through drawings, poems, or other art forms, with the resulting works to be exhibited at the end of the month.
The initiative specifically targets seniors experiencing social isolation. The team from the Caminha + Ativa Program and the Local Volunteer Bank will visit these residents throughout October, inviting them to participate and reflect on their most meaningful life experiences.
Beyond being a recreational activity, "The Paper of My Life" aims to strengthen self-esteem, stimulate memory, foster a sense of belonging, and create opportunities for meaningful human contact. By giving voice to participants' stories, the initiative helps combat loneliness and reinforces community bonds, recognizing the legacy of each senior.
In parallel, "Senior Month" offers cultural benefits to residents aged 65 and over in the municipality. They receive free entry to cinema screenings at the Cineteatro dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Vila Praia de Âncora throughout October.
The film program includes screenings of "Heart of the Beast – Heróis Inseparáveis" on October 9th and 10th, and "De Gaulle: Resistência (Part 1)" on October 23rd and 24th, both sessions starting at 9:30 PM.
These actions are part of the municipality's effort to promote a more inclusive and supportive community, creating responses that favor aging with dignity, autonomy, and social participation.
