The initiative, held at the Mora Fair and Exhibition Park, aimed to promote health literacy, encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyles, and strengthen community outreach.
Throughout the two days, nurses Sofia Pacheco and Ana Mira, along with physiotherapist Inês Pinheiro, presented the services, projects, and intervention areas of the UCC of Mora. The Immunohematotherapy Service, represented by nurse Fernanda Rosado, focused on raising awareness for blood donation through the ULSAC Mobile Unit. Nurse Rita Leão from the Public Health Unit addressed topics such as contraceptive methods, sexually transmitted infections, and sexuality in the elderly.
The program included diverse activities for all age groups. Preschool children and students from 4th and 8th grades participated in sessions on healthy eating and emotions. Movement activities and health screenings were conducted in coordination with Farmácia Falcão and Fábrica dos Óculos. The Bombeiros de Mora (Mora Firefighters) led a session on Basic Life Support and emergency procedures.
Sofia Pacheco, Coordinator of the UCC of Mora, emphasized the event's significance: “this action is an opportunity to strengthen ties with the community, value their needs, and promote health that is closer, more participatory, and accessible to all. Because caring for health also means building connections, sharing knowledge, empowering the community, and walking hand in hand towards a healthier future for everyone”.
