The Albufeira Municipal Chamber marks the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction by releasing a practical manual aimed at making safety information more accessible to all citizens.

The new manual, titled “Resilience starts at home”, compiles preventive measures, guidance for preparing emergency kits, and a family emergency plan, with the objective of strengthening the population's response capacity to various risk situations. The initiative seeks to raise awareness among citizens and institutions about the importance of prevention and adopting behaviors that minimize the impacts of disasters.
With a practical approach, the document identifies the main risks in the Albufeira municipality, dedicating specific chapters to earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, heatwaves, and fires. It also includes information on cliff safety, road accidents, animal protection in emergencies, and useful contacts.
The manual covers areas such as interpreting warnings and alerts, understanding territorial risks, and preparing family responses. The aim is to encourage preventive behaviors in daily life and highlight the individual's contribution to collective safety.
“

"To promote greater awareness among the residents of Albufeira regarding critical aspects to consider in case of need. We are all Civil Protection agents."
