Accompanied by the president and treasurer of the Union of Freguesias of Côja and Barril de Alva, Paulo Amaral and Dulce Trindade, respectively, the official observed the progress of the works designed to make the space more organized, safe, and attractive, strengthening the connection of residents and visitors to the riverside.
For Luís Paulo Costa, the project represents “a significant change in how this space is lived and used,” transforming an area previously occupied in a disorganized manner into a location that is “more functional, safe, and inviting, reinforcing Côja's relationship with its riverside.”
The works include the creation of 31 parking spaces for cars and six for motorcycles, new vehicle access, improved pedestrian paths, and landscaped areas. The riverbank is also set to be enhanced with a green corridor, tree planting, and consolidation of the existing wall.
A key change will be the reorganization of an area previously used for informal parking, making way for a more functional space integrated into the Parque do Prado surroundings. The intervention will also enhance the landscape setting of the old mill, creating better conditions for its future use and enjoyment.
The project stems from a loan agreement between the Municipality of Arganil and the Union of Freguesias of Côja and Barril de Alva, which has granted the necessary land for the renovation and expansion of the Parque do Prado free of charge.
