On November 14th and 15th, 2026, the locality of Macieira, Sul, in the municipality of São Pedro do Sul, will once again host the XXVII Chestnut and Honey Festival. This celebration brings together gastronomy, tradition, crafts, and entertainment, highlighting chestnuts and honey, prized products of Portuguese rural culture.
For over two decades, the festival has been a meeting point for residents, visitors, and local producers, serving as a tribute to autumn flavors and an opportunity to preserve ancestral traditions linked to agriculture, beekeeping, and traditional chestnut roasting. Chestnuts and honey take center stage, promoting the region's cultural identity.
Visitors can sample a wide variety of local products and specialties, including roasted chestnuts, regional desserts made with chestnuts and honey, artisanal liqueurs, apiary products, sausages, and typical regional flavors. The fair also allows for the direct purchase of genuine products from producers.
The festival will also feature a diverse exhibition of regional crafts, where local artisans will showcase traditional works in wood, textiles, and other creations. The program includes traditional music, cultural activities, craft demonstrations, and entertainment for all ages.
Macieira, situated in an area of great landscape and cultural richness, promotes the Chestnut and Honey Festival as a driver for tourism, showcasing local products, regional gastronomy, and the community's associative dynamism.
