The Lamego Municipal Council restored vehicle circulation on Avenida Dr. Alfredo de Sousa last Friday, the 23rd, after the completion of conservation and restoration works on the Escadório de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios tunnel.

The maintenance and aesthetic enhancement intervention renewed the tunnel through washing, plastering, and painting of walls and ceilings. The main objective was to protect the structure against temporal wear and enhance the aesthetic setting of one of the city's most emblematic and heritage sites.
The project represented an investment of 24,230 euros (plus VAT). Despite the avenue's reopening, work will continue over the coming weeks on the upper level of the tunnel, now advancing to the waterproofing and rainwater drainage phases.
