"Pica no Chão" was once again a success in Arcos de Valdevez, as part of the Arcos à Mesa weekend. The Municipality organized another "Showcooking na Esplanada", dedicated to this typical dish, featuring chef Tiago Fernandes and the duo "Hourglass".
The public enjoyed three chef's suggestions, starting with a combination of black pudding and flavored yogurt, followed by a shredded chicken pie that emphasized meal reuse. The event concluded with the tasting of the delicious "Pica no Chão", prepared with local products.
The event also marked the symbolic award ceremony for the "Arcos Pela Lente IV" Photography Contest. The Mayor, Olegário Gonçalves, highlighted the strength of the winning photograph, "Tempestade – Casa Abrigo da Urzeira", captured by Nuno Ricardo Vieira on June 3, 2023, emphasizing the landscape's beauty.
The "Arcos à Mesa" involved several restaurants in the municipality, offering the traditional Arroz de Pica no Chão accompanied by regional green wines, and local desserts such as "Charutos de Arcos de Valdevez", one of Portugal's 7 Sweet Wonders.
In parallel, the Municipality developed a program of activities in cultural and scientific facilities, aiming to boost the region and reinforce its commitment to the community.
