Renovation works on the Municipality Square in Boticas have commenced, an intervention promoted by the Municipal Council. The goal is to enhance and modernize one of the town's most emblematic public spaces, providing improved accessibility, safety, mobility, and comfort for the population.
In the initial phase, work is focused on implementing necessary safety and signage measures, as well as preparatory work, demolitions, removal of existing pavements, and earthmoving, to create the conditions for the subsequent stages of the intervention.
The project involves a significant transformation of the space, including the replacement of existing pavements, reorganization of pedestrian circulation areas, and the creation of new pathways and resting zones. It also plans for the enhancement of green spaces, installation of new urban furniture, modernization of public lighting, and improvement of rainwater drainage infrastructure.
A connection to the Porta Carral is also planned, promoting an immersive experience that brings the user closer to the historical, cultural, and spatial context. Through this intervention, the Municipality of Boticas aims to transform the Municipality Square into a more modern, inclusive, and attractive space, reinforcing its importance as a venue for meetings, social gatherings, and cultural, recreational, and leisure activities.
The operation represents a total investment of 922,577.78 euros, with a community co-financing of 304,617.65 euros through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), corresponding to a co-financing rate of 33.02%.
