The Municipality of Funchal, through its Food Strategy – SEMEAR, held a Magusto at the Professor Eleutério de Aguiar School, aiming to value and preserve local traditions.

The initiative, which took place on Thursday, October 29, was organized in collaboration with the association Atremar a Ilha, known as A Biqueira. The Magusto, associated with Pão por Deus and Saint Martin's Day, symbolizes generosity, sharing, and gratitude for the fruits of the harvest season.
Children had the opportunity to watch the magusto being prepared and taste roasted chestnuts. The program also included the traditional jumping over the bonfire, a popular game associated with Magusto, with the support of the Funchal Volunteer Firefighters to ensure everyone's safety.
The councilwoman responsible for Education and Health, Helena Leal, was present and highlighted the Funchal Municipality's commitment to preserving cultural heritage and traditions that form the community's identity. The councilwoman emphasized the importance of keeping alive the memories and traditions passed down through generations.
