The initiative, promoted by the Municipal Chamber, aimed to revive traditions that are part of the identity of the rural communities in the municipality, offering participants the opportunity to recall experiences from their youth in an atmosphere of joy and good spirits.
The Councilor for Social Action, Sónia Guerreiro, closely followed the event, emphasizing that "More than recreating a tradition, we wanted to give our users the opportunity to live it again, to remember moments from their youth and to share those memories with others".
At the Largo de S. João de Campos, concertinas, conversations, and shared stories transported participants to other times, recalling moments when 'desfolhadas' were part of the communities' daily lives.
The gastronomic component included the sharing of cakes brought by each of the six IPSS, featuring the traditional 'bolo no tacho', in a moment of fellowship.
In addition to promoting conviviality, the initiative aims to be a moment for valuing memory and intangible heritage, recognizing the role of seniors as guardians of traditions.
It was attended by the Centro Social e Paroquial de Campos, Centro Social e Paroquial de Reboreda, Santa Casa da Misericórdia - Lar Maria Luísa e Centro de Dia de Loivo, ADSL - Associação de Desenvolvimento Social Local de Vila Nova de Cerveira, Centro Social e Paroquial de Gondarém, and Centro Paroquial e Social de Covas.
