The Municipality of Caminha marks Pink October with awareness initiatives for breast cancer prevention, including a solidarity walk and the placement of a pink ribbon on the Town Hall facade.

The Municipality of Caminha is joining the international Pink October campaign, dedicated to raising awareness for the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. Throughout October, several initiatives will be held to alert the public about the importance of preventive behaviors and regular screenings.
As a symbol of solidarity, a pink ribbon has been placed on the facade of the Town Hall (Paços do Concelho) in Praça Conselheiro Silva Torres, aiming to draw attention to this crucial public health message. The ribbon was made by staff from the Municipal Library of Caminha to enhance the campaign's visibility.
One of the main events is the Pink October Walk, scheduled for October 31st. The walk will start simultaneously at 09:30 from Terreiro in Caminha and from Dr. Ramos Pereira Park in Vila Praia de Âncora, heading towards Moledo.
Participation in the walk requires mandatory registration by October 23rd. Registrations can be made at the Parish Councils (Juntas de Freguesia) of Caminha and Vilarelho, Moledo and Cristelo, and Vila Praia de Âncora, as well as at the Municipality of Caminha's services. At the end of the walk, there will be a social gathering in Moledo, with free transportation provided for participants' return.
Through these actions, the Municipality of Caminha aims to highlight the importance of breast cancer prevention, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, health monitoring, and screening tests, which are essential for early diagnosis.
