The Faculty of Science and Technology of the Nova University of Lisbon (NOVA FCT) held its first graduation ceremony for the Postgraduate Program in Digital Skills on September 25. This training offer is part of the Digital Sul + Ilhas project, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) through the Impulso Mais Digital program.
Eleven students completed this edition of the postgraduate program. At the ceremony, diplomas were awarded to six of the graduates who were able to attend. The project showed positive results, with 77 micro-credentials taught and 2705 people certified, notably 2637 individuals with basic training in non-STEAM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), demonstrating its capacity to reach new audiences.
José Júlio Alferes, Director of NOVA FCT, emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and upskilling for society, affirming the faculty's commitment to making these programs a central offering. António Anjos, Pro-Rector for Digital Transformation at the University of Évora, a member of the consortium, congratulated the graduates and highlighted the project's relevance.
Eurico Cabrita, NOVA FCT's Sub-Director for Research and Innovation and Coordinator of the Digital Sul + Ilhas project, recalled the initial challenge of training non-traditional audiences and contributing to a society with enhanced digital skills, concluding that the project was a success and exceeded its objectives.
