During the 1st Amora PetFest held at Serrado Park, the Executive of the Amora Parish Council paid a special tribute to Lupi, an 18-year-old senior dog who has maintained 15 consecutive annual registrations with the Council's services. This achievement made Lupi the "most registered pet in the Parish of Amora" and served as a platform for the Executive to raise public awareness about the importance of complying with this legal obligation that protects companion animals.
During the recognition ceremony, Cláudia Reis, a member of the Amora Parish Council's Executive, highlighted the simplicity of the process: "Registering a companion animal is a legal obligation for all owners, but it is, above all, an act of responsibility. It is a very simple, quick procedure with a minimal annual cost that can—and should—be handled directly at the Amora Parish Council."
The registration of dogs and cats is mandatory by law (Licensing and Registration in SIAC - Companion Animal Information System) for all animals between 3 and 12 months of age. To complete or renew the registration, the owner must present the Owner's Identification Document (Citizen Card / BI), Proof of Residence in the Parish of Amora, the Animal's Vaccination Record (with the rabies vaccine up-to-date, when applicable), and the Microchip Document / DIAC (Companion Animal Identification Document), issued by the veterinarian.
Registration should be done at the Amora Parish Council's Service Desk. The cost is a low annual fee, set by the parish's fee schedule, and the registration is valid for one year, requiring annual renewal. Protecting your companion animal also means ensuring it is properly identified and registered within its community.
