The Monastery of Ancede, in Baião, once again transformed into a horror setting on the night of October 31st, with the staging of another edition of the Haunted Monastery, which attracted 300 participants and sold out days in advance.

The initiative, part of the programming for the Monastery of Ancede – Cultural Center (MACC Baião), presented a more ambitious production and a larger scale this year compared to 2025. The night began in the atrium of the Church of the Monastery of Ancede, where hundreds of people watched the performance by Zukra, which kicked off the event. Many attendees embraced the Halloween spirit, arriving with masks and accessories related to the occasion. The monastery's exterior lighting helped create an atmosphere of mystery.
Organized into five sessions, the route led the audience through different areas of the Monastery, transformed into horror scenes, where zombie brides, mad chefs, vampire women, and other characters appeared by surprise. Amidst reenactments, scares, and moments of suspense, visitors were invited to interact with the characters, sometimes becoming part of the stories themselves.
Among the audience were people from different parts of the country, who found in this experience a different way to discover and experience the historical heritage of the Monastery of Ancede. The final moment brought together participants from the five sessions in the atrium of the Casa dos Moços, where they first witnessed a 'queimada' (fire ritual) and then a fire show that concluded the night.
The event also featured the participation of Bai’o Teatro, Baião's community theater group, which collaborated in this edition. With enhanced production, greater diversity of settings, and all 300 available spots sold out in advance, the Haunted Monastery saw growth compared to the previous year, confirming public interest in this type of cultural experience.
