The Municipality of Mafra will have, starting November 2nd, reinforced proximity response in pre-hospital emergencies with the operational launch of the new INEM Immediate Life Support (SIV) vehicle.

This measure, undertaken by the current Board of Directors of ULS Santa Maria at the beginning of their mandate in 2024, is realized through a partnership between ULS Santa Maria, the Mafra Municipal Council, and the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
The President of the ULSSM Board of Directors, Carlos das Neves Martins, highlighted the project's importance for Mafra's population during the inauguration of the new SIV operational base. The ceremony included speeches from the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, the President of INEM, Luís Mendes Cabral, and the President of the Mafra Municipal Council, Hugo Moreira Luís.
Carlos das Neves Martins also mentioned ongoing strategic measures to improve access to family doctors in the Mafra municipality, including an international tender for a Model C USF, the creation of another Model B USF, a partnership with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML), and telemonitoring and telemedicine services.
The Mafra Immediate Life Support vehicle will be equipped and operational with a team consisting of a Nurse and a Pre-Hospital Emergency Technician.
