The Congress Center of the Portalegre Municipal Council hosted the III PRAPAS Meeting, held under the theme “Sowing Health, Reaping Future (in Alentejo)”. The event, promoted by the PRAPAS team from the Regional Health Delegation of Alentejo, in coordination with regional partners, aimed at sharing experiences and technical reflection on healthy eating.
The opening session was attended by representatives from the Portalegre Municipal Council, the National Program for the Promotion of Healthy Eating, the ULS Alto Alentejo, the Portalegre School of Hospitality and Tourism, and PRAPAS itself. Throughout the day, topics such as food labeling and safety, the challenges of the National Program, and projects like “My Lunchbox” were addressed.
The meeting also dedicated time to the work of partner entities, with presentations on healthy eating in the Alentejo Coast, the influence of lifestyle on food choices, the VA|PREVENTION project for type 2 diabetes prevention, and the challenges of nutrition in the GLP-1 era. The initiative also included the presentation of community projects, scientific posters, a demonstration of regional food products, and a healthy lunch.
The ULS Alto Alentejo, a co-organizer of the event, partnered in the initiative, contributing to a coordinated approach to promoting healthy eating and health literacy in the region. The meeting reinforced the importance of collaboration between health services, local authorities, educational institutions, and other territorial partners in building more informed communities prepared to make health-promoting food choices.
