The Mayor of Ponta Delgada Municipal Chamber, Pedro Nascimento Cabral, visited the Caminho do Rebentão, highlighting the importance of its requalification, which involved an investment of approximately 300,000 euros, for road safety and the socioeconomic development of the parishes.
The intervention, carried out between Fajã de Cima and Fenais da Luz, aimed to improve the safety and comfort conditions for motorists, reinforcing the essential accessibility for the development of the parishes served by this link between the southern and northern zones of the municipality.
Accompanied by the Presidents of the Parish Councils of Fajã de Cima and Fenais da Luz, Pedro Almeida and Bruno Costa, respectively, Pedro Nascimento Cabral observed the results of the project, which included the repaving of this important road axis.
The Mayor emphasized that improving accessibility is particularly relevant for the economic activity of the parishes, especially for the agricultural, commercial, and business sectors, facilitating the transport of goods and the movement of populations.
“
"Investing in our roads is also investing in the local economy, in the competitiveness of businesses, and in the quality of life for families. We want more accessible, attractive parishes with better conditions to retain population and welcome new investments."
Pedro Nascimento Cabral also recalled that the municipality maintains the objective of promoting, in the future, the widening of Estrada do Rebentão to three traffic lanes, a more comprehensive intervention that depends on resolving issues related to the availability of adjacent land.
“
"We did not want to postpone a necessary work while we proceed with the procedures that will allow for a more ambitious intervention. The requalification already carried out is an important improvement, but we remain committed to finding a definitive solution for this road link."
The Mayor finally reiterated that this investment reflects the municipal strategy of valuing local infrastructure and promoting balanced development across Ponta Delgada's 24 parishes.
“
"We want the municipality's progress to be felt in all parishes, through investments that respond to the concrete needs of the populations and contribute to improving their daily lives."
