The Municipality of Lagoa, in partnership with RUTIS and ADR – CCS Quinta de S. Pedro, organized the 1st Algarve Walking Football Tournament, which gathered approximately 70 participants over 50 years old at the Municipal Sports Field of Estômbar.

The event, held on October 23rd, featured five teams and was marked by physical activity, team spirit, and camaraderie. Participants included ADR – Quinta de S. Pedro, the Senior University of Aljustrel, ASAS – Senior Academy of Arts and Knowledge, Klubesol Fuzeta, and Portimonense Walking Football.
At the closing ceremony, the President of the Municipal Chamber of Lagoa, Luís Encarnação, congratulated the organization and the athletes, highlighting Walking Football as a sport that promotes physical activity in older ages and the joint participation of men and women in mixed teams. The mayor emphasized that these characteristics align with the Municipality's vision for sports in the region, based on the principle of “Sport for All”.
More than a competition, the tournament served to promote active aging, encourage social participation, and strengthen ties between institutions and communities. The gathering concluded with a fellowship lunch.
The initiative also contributed to the promotion and appreciation of Walking Football as an accessible sport that enhances well-being, quality of life, and sports practice for individuals aged 50 and over.
