The service reorganization includes a new connection and changes to the schedules of lines 18 and 58, coordinated through a connection point on Rua do Pinheiro do Bicho. The objective is to facilitate daily commutes and improve connections between localities such as Lomar, Figueiredo, Lamas, Esporões, Celeirós, Nogueira, and Guisande.
The presentation of the reinforcement was attended by several presidents of the local parishes involved, who expressed satisfaction with this advancement for the Veiga de Penso, aiming to meet the population's mobility needs and improve articulation between local communities.
The president of the Braga Municipal Council, João Rodrigues, highlighted the importance of continuously adapting the service to the population's needs, emphasizing that improving public transport involves both investment in more modern and comfortable buses and the adaptation of routes and schedules. "It is very important that all people in the municipality, regardless of whether they live in the center or outside of it, have the same access to collective public transport, under the same conditions," he added, stating that the goal is to "increase the number of passengers, make transport increasingly appealing" and ensure the system "works and gets better and better".
The mayor also pointed out that the improved offering accompanies a 14% reduction in pass prices implemented this year, with a further reduction planned for 2027. He argued that expanding access to public transport should be accompanied by continuous service improvement.
For his part, the executive administrator of TUB, Teotónio dos Santos, revealed that the company recently surpassed 67,000 passengers in a single day, setting a new record. In the first nine months of this year, the number of loaded passes approached 55,000 per month.
The reinforcement of connections in the Veiga de Penso is part of TUB's strategy to adapt its network to passenger needs, aiming to make public transport an increasingly accessible and functional alternative for daily commutes.
