The initiative provides for the awarding of six individual grants of 5,000 euros each, aimed at young artists between 18 and 35 years old. The objective is to encourage the development of new artistic projects, offering conditions for experimentation, research, production, and professional affirmation.
The competition covers six artistic areas: Theater, Music, Dance, Cinema, Visual Arts, and Disciplinary Crossing. Applications can be submitted individually or collectively by young artists who are natives or residents of the Funchal municipality, or who have completed their academic training there.
Selected projects include financial support, an artistic residency, and a public presentation within the framework of the IMPULSO Festival. This component aims to foster contact between artists and audiences, boosting the council's cultural offerings.
The creation of this grant addresses the challenges faced by early-career artists, such as access to financial resources and creative spaces. The IMPULSO Project seeks to create conditions for the development of new proposals and the consolidation of professional careers in the cultural sector.
The initiative is part of the Funchal Municipal Council's cultural strategy to promote contemporary creation and support new generations of artists.
Applications will be open from October 30 to November 30, 2026, via the CMFonline platform. Applicants must submit a detailed project proposal, portfolio, and a proposal for artistic residency and public presentation, as per the regulations.
The competition is governed by Regulation No. 1271/2026, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, No. 196, on October 9, 2026.
