The pre-congress activities of the International Congress “Artes e Imaginário Popular” have brought the magic of puppets and animated forms to children, schools, homes, day centers, and institutions in the Gouveia municipality. The Vergílio Ferreira Municipal Library also hosted a visit from a group from the Polytechnic University of Guarda.
The official opening session of the event is scheduled for tomorrow, October 23rd, at the Cine-Teatro de Gouveia. Until Sunday, the municipality will be the main stage for the discussion, creation, and celebration of traditional arts.
The program includes 25 conferences, 10 workshops, and 12 shows dedicated to giant heads, gigantones, masks, and rituals, directly involving the local community.
This initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Gouveia, the Instituto de Gouveia – Escola Profissional, and Intervenção – Associação para a Promoção e Divulgação Cultural.
