ISEL professor Pedro Fazenda secured second place at the 10th Marquês de Pombal Regatta, held in Oeiras, by captaining the traditional canoe Sr.ª da Atalaia.

The Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) announces that its professor, Pedro Fazenda (DEI/ISEL), guided the traditional canoe Sr.ª da Atalaia to a 2nd place finish at the 10th Marquês de Pombal Regatta. The event took place in Oeiras, as part of the Oeiras Nautical Festival 2026.
Acting as arrais (helmsman), the ISEL professor captained the traditional Tagus River (Tejo) vessel, over 100 years old, in one of the festival's highlight races. Since 2019, the Sr.ª da Atalaia has been supported by the Casa de Cultura e Recreio do Pessoal da UPL, an institution that promotes its connection to initiatives valuing nautical and cultural heritage.
As part of the Marinha do Tejo (Tagus Navy), the boat regularly participates in regattas, traditional sailing training courses, and events promoting Portuguese maritime traditions. UPL's support has helped enhance the brand's visibility in sports contexts.
