The Portugal–Macau Bilateral Summit took place on September 29 at the National Headquarters of the Order of Engineers, in Lisbon. The event featured interventions by the Bastonary of the Order of Engineers, Fernando de Almeida Santos, and the President of the Macau Engineers Association, Wu Chou Kit.
Topics discussed included the AEM's future plans, presented by Mike Leong, the reality of Women in Engineering in Macau, detailed by Tan Guan Leng, President of the AEM's Women's Commission, and the international activity and bilateral relations of the institutions.
The signing of the Cooperation Protocol formalized the commitment of both institutions to deepen relations between the Engineering communities of Portugal and Macau, promoting new initiatives of common interest.
Between October and November 2026, two joint webinars are planned on Artificial Intelligence in Construction and Women in Engineering, continuing the collaborative work.
The delegation's visit also included a tour of the Instituto Superior Técnico on October 1, providing an opportunity to engage with engineering education, research, and innovation in Portugal.
This initiative reinforced the commitment of both institutions to international cooperation, the valorization of the profession, and the sharing of knowledge in strategic areas for the future of Engineering.
