The exercise, which involved voluntary participation from AML and TML workers, aimed to improve their capacity to adopt self-protection measures in the event of an earthquake. At 11:05 AM, workers performed the basic protective actions: dropping to their knees, protecting their head and neck with their arms and hands, and waiting until the shaking stopped.
Concurrently, the internal Emergency Plan of the AML/TML headquarters was put into practice, with workers evacuating to the external assembly point. The participation was complemented by a visit to the nearest Public Assembly Point at Campo de Santa Clara.
There, they were met by a team from the Lisbon Municipal Civil Protection Service, who delivered a short talk on the Municipality's response to major accidents, the importance of a Family Emergency Plan, and the relevance of maintaining emergency kits at home and work.
AML and TML expressed their gratitude for the support of the Lisbon Municipal Civil Protection Service in this initiative, which has been held annually since 2017.
