Câmara Municipal da Marinha Grande

The Municipality of Marinha Grande has approved the execution project for the requalification of Rua 25 de Abril, in Vieira de Leiria, representing an estimated investment of 965,031.52 euros, plus VAT.

The intervention will cover an urban section of approximately 715 meters, between the roundabout near Rua do Mercado and the intersection with Rua Pires de Campos. The project aims to address current mobility, accessibility, and safety constraints, such as narrow or non-existent sidewalks, pedestrian space occupation by parking, and two-way vehicle circulation in a narrow corridor.
The requalification includes the reorganization of the road platform and traffic, with a single direction for most of the street. In the section between the Volunteer Firefighters of Vieira de Leiria and Rua Pires de Campos, two-way traffic will be maintained to ensure the operationality of emergency vehicles.
The project also includes the creation and regularization of sidewalks, preferably with a minimum width of 1.20 meters, accessible pedestrian routes, installation of tactile elements, and improvement of pedestrian crossings. Where possible, longitudinal parking spaces will be created.
A public transport shelter is planned near the cemetery, along with the adaptation of signage, urban furniture, and electrical infrastructure that interferes with the defined solution. The intervention will include the replacement of water supply and wastewater and rainwater drainage networks.
