The month of October, which marks the National Day of the Torres Lines, was marked by the presentation of two regional confectionery products inspired by the heritage and history associated with the French Invasions in Arruda dos Vinhos.
"Arruda 1810", a pastry created by Daniela Ferrão and Sónia Tiago (Eclipse Reserva e Sweet Wine), refers in its name to the period of the French Invasions and its composition includes grapes from the Touriga Nacional variety, bringing the region's wine identity to this sweet.
Under the same inspiration, the Pastel de Wellington was also presented, uniting the pastry art of Sobral de Monte Agraço with the wine of Arruda dos Vinhos. Joana Silva, from Laço, partnered with the wine from Quinta de S. Sebastião to create a sweet that carries the endogenous products, history, and heritage of this territory engraved in its name and flavour.
The two creations thus result from the valorization of the region's identity and products, through an approach that crosses history, heritage, wine, and confectionery.
