The Municipality of Loulé launched today the website areasprotegidas.cm-loule.pt, dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of the municipality's five local protected areas.

The launch took place on the 16th anniversary of the Local Protected Landscapes of Rocha da Pena and Fonte Benémola. The new portal aggregates information on the Local Protected Landscape of Rocha da Pena, the Local Protected Landscape of Fonte Benémola, the Local Nature Reserve of Foz do Almargem e do Trafal, the Local Nature Reserve of Nave do Barão, and the Local Natural Monument of Gruta de Vale Telheiro.
Each protected area has a dedicated page, detailing its natural and cultural heritage, technical information, and photo and video galleries. The website also includes scientific and monitoring projects, exploration proposals through walking trails, soundscapes, routes of the Algarvensis Geopark, and news about activities in these areas.
“

"Investing in the environment and the preservation of natural resources is investing in a quality future. With this website, we want to bring people closer to our protected areas, so they can get to know them, value them, and help us take care of them."

Telmo Pinto · Mayor of Loulé
The initiative addresses a gap long identified by the Municipality, serving as a tool for transparency and proximity for the public, scientific community, and involved entities. The project is supported by European Funds, within the scope of the Regional Program ALGARVE 2030.
