The Mayor of Ribeira Grande Council, Jaime Vieira, met with the President of the Board of Directors of the Regional Institute for Agrarian Planning (IROA), Pedro Hintze, to analyze priority issues for the agricultural sector in the municipality, such as the recovery of agricultural paths and the reinforcement of water supply.

At the meeting, which also included council members Miguel Bernardo and Carlos Anselmo, and IROA Board member Vitória Pereira, the recovery of several agricultural paths located in the municipality was discussed. These infrastructures are fundamental to ensure better access conditions to farms and facilitate the daily activity of farmers and sector entrepreneurs.
The improvement and maintenance of these routes are of particular importance in a municipality where agriculture continues to have a significant weight in the local economy, making it essential to ensure adequate conditions for the circulation of people, machinery, and agricultural equipment.
The meeting also addressed the need to reinforce and improve the water supply to agricultural holdings, with particular attention to the eastern area of the municipality. During the summer months, this area faces greater difficulties in water availability, a situation that concerns producers and requires solutions to increase the capacity and reliability of the supply.
The Municipal Master Plan of Ribeira Grande, currently under revision, was also reviewed, with the Municipality reiterating the importance of contributions for potential changes from citizens and institutions.
Jaime Vieira highlighted the importance of coordination between the Council and IROA in finding solutions, emphasizing that the improvement of agricultural accessibility and water supply directly contributes to the sector's competitiveness and sustainability.
The Ribeira Grande Municipal Council will continue to follow these matters with IROA and the competent authorities, seeking solutions that improve working conditions for farmers and strengthen a sector of great economic and social relevance for the municipality.
