The Clube Gavionense presented themselves with only 14 players and one assistant at the Estádio Francisco Palmeiro, in Arronches, to face Sport Arronches e Benfica in the 1st round of the AF Portalegre Honor Cup, suffering a 3-1 defeat.

The final result reflects the superiority of the home team, managed by player-coach João Sousa. With a new coach, Pedro Canário, the Gavião team arrived in Arronches with only three training sessions led by the former Portalegrense coach, following two complicated weeks since the departure of coach Fernando Lopes.
Fernando Lopes still managed the team in the first official match of the season, in the Portuguese Cup against Mação, a match from which Gavião emerged defeated 5-0. The team started the season in August to prepare for the 1st round of the Portuguese Cup, but many of the players presented no longer live in the area, as was the case, for example, with goalkeeper Telmo and forward Alexandre Ferreira. Midfielder Patacas was unavailable for this game.
The team lined up as follows: second row, from left to right: Nuno Coxinho, Daniel, Vasco, Gomito, Kyami, Duarte Basílio, Victor, Arthur, Bruno, Pedro Canário, Fernando Severino; first row: Gregório, Leo, Rivaldo, Tiago, Kani, João Sousa and Bruno Baía.
