The Lagoa Municipal Council has decided to reinitiate the procedure for developing the Sítio da Canada Detailed Plan, setting a new 12-month deadline for its completion and opening a 15-working-day period for public participation.

The decision, made during a council meeting on October 6, 2026, aims to reclassify land in Sesmarias due to the current urban perimeter's saturation and the need for cluster structuring. The plan seeks to improve mobility and infrastructure, considering the surrounding urban dynamics.
Despite alterations made to the proposal and the ongoing development period, the Municipal Council decided to restart the procedure, utilizing previously completed acts and formalities. The revised proposal was approved and communicated to the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Algarve (CCDR Algarve).
A 15-working-day period for preventive participation will be opened, commencing on the 5th day after publication in the Diário da República. During this time, interested parties can consult the terms of reference, the planning contract, and the justification for the exemption from Strategic Environmental Assessment on the Lagoa Municipal Council website (www.cm-lagoa.pt), at the Balcão Único, and at the União de Freguesias de Lagoa - Carvoeiro.
Suggestions and information should be submitted in writing to the President of the Municipal Council, using the form available at the indicated locations or on the Municipal Council's institutional website. The participation period will run from November 3 to November 23, 2026.
