The mayor of Albufeira urged officers to act with authority, but without excess, and to maintain a presence close to the population. He emphasized the importance of respecting rules, especially in nightlife areas, reminding that the city's tourist vocation must coexist with respect for residents and visitors.
Rui Cristina mentioned the reinforcement of noise and nightlife regulations enforcement, as well as the opening of a competition for new Municipal Police officers. He also highlighted collaboration with the GNR and the Maritime Police, stressing that regulations are only effective if enforced.
“"Welcoming people doesn't mean allowing everything"
Nelson Pinto thanked the officers for their daily work and the mayor for this moment of recognition. The commander highlighted the Municipal Police's role in the city, comparing the awarding of badges to a "renewal of vows" of commitment to the profession and the community.
For Nelson Pinto, this recognition serves as a "lever for the next phase," bringing motivation and increased responsibility. He expressed his willingness to work together with the present commanders to face Albufeira's challenges.
The safety of the operational staff was also highlighted, with the team recently receiving individual ballistic and cut-resistant protection vests, reinforcing officers' safety conditions in the line of duty.
