In recent days, Cabedelo Beach was the stage for the 13th edition of Gliding Barnacles, a festival that brought together lovers of surfing, music, art, and gastronomy. The event, which began on Wednesday, September 23rd, spanned four days, culminating this Sunday, and saw a strong turnout.
More than just a surf festival, Gliding Barnacles transformed Cabedelo into a meeting point for participants, artists, and visitors from various nationalities. In the water, over a hundred surfers participated in a non-competitive environment and in initiatives like the traditional inflatable mattress race. Off the water, the program included music, cinema, art, gastronomy, and a market.
Approximately 40 bands, musicians, and DJs performed across the event's three stages, while the artistic component featured around 120 artists, presenting installations, live painting, tattoo art, ceramics, photography, video, and performances.
The strong attendance at the event was also marked by significant use of the free river crossing, provided by the Municipality of Figueira da Foz, facilitating access for many visitors. The municipality is a partner of the event with financial support of 35 thousand euros, reinforcing its commitment to the tourist and cultural development of the region.
The Mayor, accompanied by councilor Manuel Domingues and councilor Cláudia Rocha, visited the venue, highlighting the diversity and scale of an event that uses Cabedelo as a privileged setting to unite surfing, creativity, music, and community.
This Sunday marks the closing of another edition of Gliding Barnacles, with an invitation extended to those who have not yet had the opportunity to experience the festival's unique atmosphere.
