The Bauhaus Bites project aims to promote healthier, more sustainable, and inclusive food environments in European cities, bringing together partners who develop and experiment with local solutions involving community participation.
During the visit, initiatives in Sarajevo were explored, including school gardens, urban agriculture projects, pocket parks, and community green spaces. A healthy aging center and a professional hospitality school were highlighted.
The initiative included participation in the 35th International Scientific-Expert Conference of Agriculture and Food Industry, where a panel dedicated to Bauhaus Bites gathered representatives from Trailblazer cities (Birmingham, Fundão, and Zagreb) and Twin cities (Murska Sobota, Ostend, Sarajevo, and Palermo) to discuss their actions.
Fundão, as a Trailblazer city, presented its Action Plan, which seeks a more sustainable and inclusive local food system. It includes the creation of the Fundão FoodLab, a space for sustainable food experimentation and cultural programming at the Municipal Market.
The visit facilitated contact with concrete projects in Sarajevo and deepened cooperation among participating cities, bringing new perspectives to the municipality's work within the Bauhaus Bites framework.
