As part of its ongoing policy to support School Social Education and the family ecosystem, the Vizela Municipal Chamber signed collaboration agreements with the Parents' Associations of the municipality's schools. The commitment represents a total investment of approximately 550 thousand euros focused on the 2026/2027 school year.
The formalized protocols include Animation and Family Support in Kindergartens, with a global amount of €397,000.00, ensuring children's care. Agreements were also approved for the Shared Management of School Canteens for the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, with an estimated municipal financial investment of €128,000.00.
Additionally, the continuity and expansion of agreements for the Supply of School Snacks in the 1st Cycle were approved, with financial support set at €0.61/day (Tier A) and €0.36/day (Tier B), representing an estimated cost of up to €18,000.00. These measures aim to ensure the daily distribution of a healthy and equitable snack to all students.
Through these partnerships and the reinforcement of School Social Action, the Municipality of Vizela reiterates its status as a “Family-Friendly Municipality”, ensuring direct financial relief for family budgets at the start of the school year.
The Municipality also implements other support measures, such as the Free School Kit (€94,000.00/YEAR) for all 1st Cycle students, the Baby Check Reinforcement (accumulated €1,395,000.00), Higher Education Scholarships (over €30,000/Year), and the School Transport Plan (around €30,000/Year).
Cultural and Educational Leisure Dynamization is another priority, with support for initiatives such as Children's Day, Reading Week, Book Fair, and the event “Vizela Cidade Natal”. Recent data indicates that Portuguese families spend an average of 580 euros per student at the beginning of the school year, a cost that Vizela households benefit from seeing substantially reduced.
