The Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso has launched the "Aproximar" Mobile Unit, a new service that will bring municipal services directly to the council's parishes, promoting proximity and inclusion.

The public presentation took place at the Serzedelo Parish Social Center, attended by council members, representatives of IPSS’s, the Local Insertion Hub (NLI), and the First Secretary of the Ave Intermunicipal Community (CIM), Guilherme Emílio. The President of the Social Center, Father Albino Carneiro, and the local Parish Council President, Carlos Vieira, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its importance for the population.
Guilherme Emílio, from CIM do Ave, emphasized the need to humanize public services through proximity work. He noted that the Municipality of Póvoa de Lanhoso is realizing with this project a "truly inclusive proximity service," which avoids travel costs for residents.
The Mayor, Frederico Castro, framed the project within a continuous strategy to facilitate access to public services. He recalled the extension of service hours and the creation of a digital platform with around 6000 users, accessible via mobile or computer, as previous steps to "be with services available to people."
The "Aproximar" Mobile Unit is part of a global strategy for modernization and decentralization. The vehicle is equipped with an access ramp, adapted space, computer, printer, Citizen Card reader, and air conditioning, ensuring privacy and accessibility to resolve matters on-site.
In addition to the regular itinerary through the parishes, the project includes coordination with local institutions and, when necessary, home visits for residents with reduced mobility, ensuring that municipal information and responses reach everyone inclusively.
