The PLOGGING 40 KMTS PARTILHA initiative, organized in partnership with the Laboratório da Paisagem and the Guimarães delegation of the Associação Espaço Jacobeus (AEJ), is part of Guimarães European Green Capital 2026. Its aim is to raise awareness for landscape preservation and promote the Caminho de Torres as a pilgrimage route.
The environmental walk is divided into two stages. On October 3rd, the route runs from Ponte do Arco de Pombeiro to Largo da Oliveira. On October 4th, the walk proceeds from Largo da Oliveira to Falperra. Both days, the meeting point is Largo da República do Brasil at 08:00. Transportation to the start of the first stage and return from the second is provided.
During the event, a tree will be planted in each parish crossed by the path, and a symbolic mural will be installed. Registration for the walks is mandatory and can be completed at www.visitguimaraes.travel/pages/1355.
Complementing the outdoor activities, on October 13th, at 20:45, the Sala dos Paços will host the colloquium "Sustentabilidade e natureza no caminho" (Sustainability and nature on the path). This meeting, in collaboration with the same partner entities, seeks to foster reflection on nature preservation and sustainable practices along pilgrimage routes.
Through this program, the Municipality of Guimarães invites the community to actively participate in valuing and caring for the region's natural and cultural heritage.
