The Municipality of Ílhavo has taken the lead in the municipal transparency ranking, standing out among 207 evaluated local authorities. Starting from the 159th position, the municipality has achieved full compliance with the 138 indicators set by DYNTRA – Dynamic Transparency Index, reaching the 100% mark.
This significant evolution, demonstrating a commitment to local governance, reflects the understanding of transparency as a permanent responsibility of the Municipal Council and the Executive. To reach this level, efforts were made to involve various municipal services, identify and retrieve informative content, organize dispersed data, and improve access to information about municipal activities.
The Mayor of Ílhavo, Rui Dias, will participate in the IV Municipal Transparency Congress in Lousada, where the Roteirómetro will be presented as a best practice tool. Rui Dias stated that "those who hold public office have an increased responsibility towards citizens: to govern with ethics, transparency, and a sense of public service. Being accountable is not just fulfilling a legal obligation... it is respecting the citizens, bringing the Council closer to the people, and reinforcing trust in institutions".
This achievement represents an important step towards more transparent, accessible, and citizen-centric Local Governance, reinforcing the idea that transparency involves accountability and taking responsibility.
