Held as part of the celebrations for World Tourism Day, this year themed “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to redesign tourism,” the meeting highlighted the potential of the Azores as a differentiated destination. The importance of reconciling new technological tools with a people-centered approach, visitor experience, and the use of local resources was emphasized, valuing the territory's authenticity, culture, gastronomy, environmental quality, and the preservation of Azorean identity.
The meeting aims to be a space for debate and sharing of experiences, bringing together different stakeholders in the sector to analyze opportunities, challenges, and paths for balanced growth of tourism activity in the Region.
The Angra do Heroísmo City Council recognizes the relevance of these actions for establishing the Azores as a reference destination and for reflecting on development models that reconcile economic growth, environmental protection, and cultural identity.
