The contract, signed in Lisbon on September 21st, aims to improve environmental conditions, preserve ecosystems, and enhance water quality in the river basin. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, the President of the Climate Agency, Maria Rosário Sequeira, and José Pimenta Machado, President of the Portuguese Environment Agency, among other mayors and entities.
The intervention project includes the requalification and transformation of the septic tank at Moinhos, which connects to the Castelo River in Senhorim, into a compact Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The execution cost for this work is estimated at approximately 150,000 euros.
The Moinhos WWTP also marks a significant moment for the Freguesia of Senhorim, being the first WWTP to be installed in the parish. The installation of another compact WWTP in the same parish is also planned for this year.
