The expansion of the Lordosa Business Welcome Area (AAEL), the 2nd phase, is underway with an estimated investment exceeding 11 million euros. An application will be submitted to community funds for the construction of 26 new plots, thereby strengthening the capacity to attract and retain companies in the municipality and the region of Viseu.
The President of the Viseu Municipal Council, João Azevedo, highlighted that this global investment of 11 million euros, for 26 plots and 36 hectares of expansion, represents territorial cohesion and balance north of the municipality, with proximity to the A24. The approval of the acquisition of new plots in the AAEL was considered the 'kick-off for another major investment'.
These 26 new plots will join the 14 already made available and sold in the first phase, with an investment of 5 million euros, co-financed by CENTRO 2020 and CENTRO 2030. The second phase includes the acquisition of plots, construction of infrastructure (road network, electrical, hydraulic, gas, telecommunications) and landscape architecture.
The expansion of the AAEL aims to enhance the economic competitiveness of Viseu, attract investment, support business growth, and capture new projects. The goal is to boost job creation, generate professional opportunities, and stimulate the local and regional economy.
João Azevedo mentioned that a prominent area within the AAEL is related to innovation, technology, and aeronautics, linked to the location of the Municipal Aerodrome and training at the Instituto Jean Piaget. There is significant demand from private entities who recognize the territory as an 'investment hook'.
The objective is to attract major investments to the Centro region, making it modern and attractive for private investment, retaining talent and job opportunities within the region.
The commitment to expanding the AAEL reinforces the Municipality's dedication to sustainable economic development, territorial valorization, and creating conditions for more companies to invest, grow, and create value in Viseu.
