The city of Viseu dedicates next Sunday, October 4th, to World Animal Day through the "Viseu Animal Amigo” initiative. The event, taking place throughout the day at Santiago Urban Park, aims to promote animal welfare, protection, and responsible coexistence between people and animals.
The program includes various activities for social interaction and awareness. One of the highlights is the "Viseu Animal Amigo” exhibition, organized in collaboration with APCPA – Portuguese Association of German Shepherd Dog, which will culminate in the International German Shepherd Dog Competition, gathering breed specimens.
The event will also feature an "Viseu Animal Amigo” Adoption Space, a partnership with Cantinho dos Animais Abandonados de Viseu and Associação Patinhas 4Life. This space will allow visitors to meet animals seeking homes and learn about the importance of conscious and responsible adoption.
The initiative seeks to reinforce the significance of animals in people's lives and value the bonds of affection, companionship, and responsibility, promoting greater literacy in animal welfare.
