Between September 22nd and 24th, partners of the European University EUNICE met in person at the University of Karlstad, Sweden, for the second General Assembly of 2026. The event included three days of joint work, with meetings of working groups and multidisciplinary areas, and saw significant progress in preparing EUNICE's next phase.
A key focus was the work of the Roll-Out Committee, responsible for preparing EUNICE's application for the next European Commission funding (2027-2029). Meetings were held to consolidate the vision, priorities, and main lines of action for the new application, which aims to strengthen cooperation among partner universities and deepen engagement in areas such as education, mobility, research, innovation, digital transformation, and community involvement. UPV highlighted Lifelong Learning, through micro-credentials in partnership with local companies, and dimensions of longevity and intergenerationality.
The General Assembly also elected new leaders for EUNICE's governing bodies. Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of the Poznań University of Technology, was elected President of EUNICE AISBL. Maria Figueiredo, Pro-Rector for EUNICE at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (UPV), became President of the EUNICE AISBL Board of Directors, with Gabriel Moncalián, Vice-Rector of the University of Cantabria, serving as Vice-President.
UPV's delegation at the General Assembly included Rector José dos Santos Costa, Vice-Rector Helena Vala, Pro-Rector Maria Figueiredo, professors Cristina Gomes, Isabel Duarte, Lurdes Martins, and Paula Fonseca, EUNICE Office members Manuel Matos, Maria Lobo, Adélia Matilde, and Raquel Brito, and student representative Ariana Rocha.
UPV's participation in this General Assembly underscores its commitment to EUNICE and to building a more integrated, collaborative, and future-oriented European University.
