Malhada do Salgueiro, in Póvoa Pequena, parish of Fornelo do Monte, will host the São Martinho Livestock Competition on November 15, at 10:00 AM, to promote livestock activity and native breeds.

The event, promoted by the Vouzela Municipal Council with the support of the Vouzela Agricultural Cooperative, the Parish Council of Fornelo do Monte, and the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV), focuses on cattle of the Arouquesa and Mirandesa breeds, as well as small ruminants such as goats and sheep.
The competition's main objective is to support livestock producers and encourage the preservation and enhancement of native breeds, with a particular focus on the Arouquesa and Mirandesa cattle breeds, recognized for their importance to the region's rural identity and economy.
In addition to the livestock component, the event also includes the traditional fair and a community chestnut roast (magusto), providing a moment for social gathering and celebrating traditions associated with the São Martinho festivities.
