Fourth-grade students from the Agrupamento de Escolas de Carregal do Sal recreated the arrival of King D. Pedro V at the local railway station, in an initiative that celebrated 170 years of railways in Portugal and was broadcast live by RTP.

The initiative, promoted by the Universidade Sénior de Carregal do Sal (USCSAL) through the Heritage discipline, was attended by the President of the Municipal Council, Paulo Catalino Ferraz, and featured the symbolic unveiling of a commemorative plaque. The activity was part of the Curricular Enrichment Activity (AEC) Heritage (Culturlândia), taught by Municipal technician Mafalda Santos.
The students participated in the reenactment of the reception for King D. Pedro V and his entourage, an experience that allowed for dynamic engagement with Portuguese History, deepened knowledge of railway heritage, and fostered an understanding of the importance of preserving the historical and cultural memory of the municipality.
The reenactment was broadcast live on RTP's Praça da Alegria program, giving students a glimpse behind the scenes of a television broadcast and further enriching their participation.

A journey through time that showed how heritage gains new life when shared across generations and experienced by those who will preserve it in the future.
