On October 8th, Chaves hosted the «Cultura Radical» initiative, bringing together approximately 1100 students from the 3rd cycle of the municipality's three school clusters. The event, focused on adventure, discovery, and learning, invited young people to explore the city dynamically, learn about its culture and heritage, and strengthen values such as cooperation and teamwork.
Integrated into the Plan for the Promotion of School Success in the Municipality of Chaves (PPSEC), the municipal activity featured a circuit with 15 activity points. Participants had to overcome various challenges, combining knowledge, creativity, skill, and resilience, visiting locations such as the Forte de S. Neutel, the Quarteirão Cultural, the Rotunda do Monumento, the Jardim do Bacalhau, the Torre de Menagem, the Termas de Chaves, the Jardim do Tabolado, the Ponte Pedonal, the Jardim Público, the Jardim de S. Roque, the Ponte Romana de Trajano, the MACNA, and the Largo do Arrabalde.
Throughout the route, students participated in quizzes about Chaves, culture, and heritage, as well as radical games and activities. The dynamic emphasized cooperation and peer interaction, promoting learning in a non-formal context.
The Largo General de Silveira, where the FUN ZONE was set up, served as the central hub for the initiative, marking the start and end points of the routes. It functioned as a concentration and activity space, featuring inflatables and a rappelling tower.
Through this initiative, the Chaves municipality reinforces its commitment to differentiated educational experiences. These combine learning, the valorization of local identity, and the development of personal and social skills, aiming for educational success and a stronger connection between young people and the territory.
The activity was supported by the Pessoas 2030 program, through the European Social Fund+, under the PORTUGAL 2030 Program, funded by the European Union.
