The Municipality of Ponte de Lima, through its Health and Social Action Service, will organize Mental Health Literacy Workshops aimed at individuals aged 65 or older and those in vulnerable situations.

The sessions will take place in the Parish Councils of the municipality that have joined the initiative. The goal is to raise public awareness about the importance of mental health, promoting emotional well-being, preventing social isolation, and improving quality of life.
The workshops will cover topics such as emotional well-being, stress management, self-care strategies, identifying warning signs, and the importance of seeking professional help. Through a practical, dynamic, and participatory approach, the aim is to provide participants with useful knowledge and tools for daily life.
The practical component will be enhanced by the use of technological resources such as virtual reality, which will simulate auditory and visual stimuli associated with certain mental health conditions, promoting empathy and the deconstruction of prejudices. The Active Floor equipment will enable interactive activities that stimulate participation and group learning.
With this initiative, the Municipality of Ponte de Lima aims to bring mental health promotion information and resources closer to the population, strengthening community outreach, social inclusion, and the prevention of isolation and vulnerability.
The action is part of projects co-financed by the PESSOAS 2030 and NORTE 2030 Programs, which the Municipality of Ponte de Lima is implementing through the Health and Social Action Service.
