The month of October in Paredes de Coura promises an exciting cultural agenda. The program kicks off with Rodrigo Leão, a contemporary music composer, who will perform accompanied by the Coura Voce choir. This will be followed by the choreo-documentary ‘Eurodance’ by the Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte company, the theatre play ‘Portugal Não É Um País Pequeno’ by the Hotel Europa company, and will conclude with music by Jéssica Pina, known for her participation in Madonna's MADAME X worldtour.
On the first Saturday of October, Rodrigo Leão will take the stage at the Cultural Center to present 'O Mundo', a personal selection spanning 13 years of his solo career. The performance will include notable tracks such as ‘A Casa’, ‘Voltar’, ‘Tardes de Bolonha’, and ‘Rosa’, blending classical, ambient, electronic, and traditional influences. Rodrigo Leão will be accompanied by an excellent ensemble and the Coura Voce choir.
On the following Friday, October 9, the Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte presents ‘Eurodance’, a choreo-documentary created by Rogério Nuno Costa. The piece analyzes the last decade of the Old Regime in a post-apocalyptic context, revisiting fin-de-siècle nightmares and the ambition for a retroactive correction of the Royal Age.
Theatre will be featured on October 23, a Friday, with the play ‘Portugal Não É Um País Pequeno’. The Hotel Europa company will present a documentary theatre performance based on real testimonies of former Portuguese settlers in Africa.
The month of October concludes with music, bringing Jéssica Pina to the Cultural Center. The artist has previously been part of Madonna's world tour MADAME X worldtour, Mikky Blanco's European tour, and performances by the collective Brooklyn Funk Essentials. With a jazz background, Jéssica Pina is also known for videos such as “Vento Novo”, “Romeu”, and "Drama Queen".
Additionally, the month of October in Paredes de Coura will include cinema, a dance workshop for children aged 7 to 12 with the Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte – who also contribute to the Family Program with ‘O Melhor do Mundo’ – and the usual Lego building workshops at the Caixa dos Brinquedos, among other activities.
