The President of the Municipal Council of Viana do Castelo, Luís Nobre, signed protocols this Friday with five Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) in the municipality to support the acquisition of vehicles, recognizing their essential role in the community.

The Municipality of Viana do Castelo reinforces its commitment to IPSS through financial contributions for the purchase of vehicles, essential for the development of their community support activities. The initiative aims to motivate institutions to continue their work based on solidarity and proximity.
The ceremony, which included the presence of the Councillor for Social Cohesion, Carlota Borges, formalized agreements with Lar de Santa Teresa (support for vehicle purchase and donation of two 9-seater vans), Casa dos Rapazes de Viana do Castelo (support for vehicle purchase), Centro Social e Cultural de Barroselas (support for vehicle purchase and donation of a 34-seater bus), Centro Social e Paroquial de Santa Maria Maior (support for vehicle purchase and donation of a 9-seater van), and Centro Social e Paroquial de Afife (loan agreement for a donated van).
Under these protocols, the Municipal Council accepts the donation of vehicles that, while no longer suitable for the IPSS's requirements, represent added value for the Municipality. These vehicles can meet the transport needs of other local associations, promoting resource utilization and strengthening the response capacity of local entities.
