The Intermunicipal Community of Alto Minho (CIM Alto Minho) is conducting a diagnosis of the region's archaeological heritage, a crucial step for its future preservation and enhancement.

The Intermunicipal Community of Alto Minho (CIM Alto Minho) is developing a diagnosis and characterization of the region's archaeological heritage. This initiative is part of the "Habitat Cultural do Alto Minho" project, which has applied for the NORTE 2030 Programme and encompasses various actions for the cultural and heritage valorization of the territory.
The work, carried out in collaboration with the ten municipalities of Alto Minho, will provide a comprehensive overview of existing archaeological collections and create a knowledge base essential for their preservation, management, and future exploitation. The diagnosis includes the survey and inventory of archaeological heritage present in municipal museums, interpretation centers, and their technical reserves, as well as in external reserves or other safeguarding entities.
This assessment will allow for the characterization of collections, verification of their conservation status, storage and management conditions, and identification of needs, best practices, and improvement opportunities. The collected information will also support the updating and organization of data in Endovélico, the Archaeological Information and Management System managed by Património Cultural, I.P., promoting more systematic management of the Alto Minho's archaeological heritage.
The diagnosis also aims to boost the Alto Minho Archaeological Hub and strengthen cooperation among the region's municipalities in the management and valorization of archaeological heritage. A deeper and more systematized knowledge will enable future conservation, research, and valorization strategies, making this heritage more accessible to the general public.
